Alain Frigon
Full Professor
My undergraduate degree in kinesiology (2001) at the University of Western Ontario was followed by a master’s degree (2003) at the University of Alberta in human motor control under the supervision of E. Paul Zehr. I then switched to the cat model for my PhD (2008) and two postdoctoral fellowships. My doctoral thesis work at the Université de Montréal, under the supervision of Serge Rossignol, was on the reflex control of locomotion.
This was followed by a first postdoctoral position (2008-2009) with Jean-Pierre Gossard studying the control of centrally-generated rhythmic motor outputs by somatosensory feedback. I then went to Northwestern University in Chicago (2010-2011) to study reflex changes after spinal cord injury under the supervision of Charles J. Heckman. In 2011, I set up my lab at the Université de Sherbrooke to investigate the control of locomotion using the cat model.
